Since its founding in 1915, the AAUP has played a key part in shaping higher education in the US by promoting quality in education and defending academic freedom. If you have any questions or need to contact MTSU&#8217;s AAUP chapter, please email 2024-2025 Chapter President\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:alfred.lutz@mtsu.edu?subject=\">Alfred Lutz<\/a>\u00a0or at\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:alfredlutz5802@comcast.net\">alfredlutz5802@comcast.net<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The purpose of the American Association of University Professors is to advance&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aaup.org\/our-work\/protecting-academic-freedom\">academic freedom<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aaup.org\/our-programs\/shared-governance\">shared governance<\/a>, to define fundamental&nbsp;<strong>professional values and standards<\/strong>&nbsp;for higher education, and to ensure higher education&#8217;s contribution to&nbsp;<strong>the common good<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each new member of AAUP&nbsp;<strong>strengthens our faculty voice<\/strong>&nbsp;on campus and across the state and nation.
