The MTSU Board of Trustees will hold the Academic Affairs, Student Life, and Athletics Committee, the Audit and Compliance Committee, the Executive and Governance Committee, and the Finance and Personnel Committee Meetings on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 in the Miller Education Center (MEC).\u00a0 The livestreamed meetings will begin at 9:00 a.m. (CDT) and are open to the public. ** <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When finalized, the agendas and material will be posted on the Board of Trustees’ Committee<\/a> page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

** Meeting start times are approximate. If one meeting or lunch finishes early\/late, the following meeting will begin early\/later than noted.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

About the Board<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Board of Trustees is the governing body of Â鶹ÊÓƵ and is responsible for selecting and appointing the president; setting the operating budget; approving personnel appointments; granting all degrees awarded by the University, including honorary degrees; establishing tuition<\/a> and fee rates; approving contracts; and approving all rules, regulations, curriculum changes, new programs and degrees of the University. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Board consists of 10 members, 8 of whom are appointed by the governor, by and with consent of the Tennessee General Assembly.  In addition, the Faculty Senate<\/a> elects a faculty member to serve a two-year term, and the Student Government Association<\/a> presents three students to the University President for review, and he will recommend one of the three to the Board for approval.  The student trustee is non-voting and serves a one-year term.  They hold regularly scheduled meetings four times a year, and additional meetings as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Board of Trustees of Â鶹ÊÓƵ was established pursuant to 2016\u2019s FOCUS Act<\/a> (2016 Tenn. Pub. Acts, ch. 869)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)<\/a> letter approving MTSU\u2019s change of governance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
