May 5 – Canvas LMS Transition Updates for Faculty #10 – Canvas Has Arrived!!!

Good Morning, Faculty Colleagues –

See below for the final installment of Canvas updates for faculty this academic year! I encourage you to review our archived 2025-26 Canvas updates as well for tons of valuable information.

  1. Remember that all MTSU courses will be delivered in Canvas beginning this summer. Please don’t delay your course preparations. You’ll want plenty of time to work on upcoming courses and give our support team time to assist you, if needed.
    1. If you’re teaching this summer, make sure you review Dr. Vannatta-Hall’s message regarding summer courses, and take note of the Canvas Training Intensive Retreat on May 12-15.
    2. Note that the last day students can access D2L is May 15, 2026. Faculty will have access to D2L through December 31, 2026.
  1. Our Canvas team is working hard to resolve technical issues associated with D2L course archiving. I’ll share more details once we have a contract in place. Rest assured, we still have several months before faculty access to D2L ends.
  2. Please note that course cross-listing in Canvas is not permitted (even for different sections of the same course), since altering LMS data negatively impacts course data throughout Academic Affairs data systems (a persistent technical issue, even in D2L). As a result, all cross-listed courses should be listed accordingly in Banner, not in Canvas.
  3. We continue to have a range of supportĚý˛ą˛Ô»ĺĚý resources available, and I encourage you to explore them on our .

As always, if you have questions, please contact me directly or e-mail our team at [email protected]. You can also visit the Canvas implementation website for more information regarding timelines, Canvas resources, , and more.

Wishing you a smooth end to the Spring semester, and I’ll see many of you at graduation this weekend!site for more information regarding timelines, Canvas resources, , and more.
