Good Morning, Faculty Colleagues –
I hope you enjoyed a restful Fall Break!
See below for the first Fall 2026 installment of Canvas updates for faculty! You can also review archived 2025-26 Canvas updates for more valuable information.
- The most important update for faculty: D2L’s end-of-life is December 31, 2026. That means that faculty will not be able to access any content in D2L after this date.
- If you wish to preserve any D2L content that is not yet in Canvas, I strongly recommend that you import that content into Canvas using this pdfÌý´Ç°ù . You can export and save the content on an external drive or import course content directly into a development shell for future access. You can request a Canvas development and/or course shell(s) .
- If you wish to preserve any student submissions, grades, or other D2L artifacts, then you must download and save such files for your own records. The only content that will transfer from D2L will be course content and assessments.
- If your D2L course has videos saved in the Files area (not in Panopto or YouTube), you should download and save those for future use. You may also upload these to your Canvas Studio account to use in your Canvas course(s).
- Our Canvas team is also archiving D2L course shells from Fall 2023 to Summer 2026. But archiving will only include course content (i.e., not grades, student submissions, etc.), and recovering that content will involve significantly more work when compared to the solution described in point 1a above.
- We continue to offer a range of supportÌý²¹²Ô»å  resources available, and I encourage you to explore them on our .
As always, if you have questions, please contact me directly or e-mail our team at [email protected]. You can also visit the Canvas implementation website for more information regarding timelines, Canvas resources, , and more.
