Good Afternoon, Faculty Colleagues –

Happy November to everyone! Thanks to all who have attended one of our many Canvas training sessions!

Remember that you can always get Canvas information on our website, and details on upcoming training (along with previously recorded sessions) at the Center for Teaching & Mentoring.

Three quick updates:

 1. Our campus is right in the thick of Canvas course migrations, with a focus on our 60+ “early adopters” teaching over 100 courses in Canvas for Spring 2026. This important group of faculty will help identify opportunities for improvement in course migrations and the broader Canvas implementation. This work will benefit all of campus since our goal is to make course transitions as seamless as possible. As you know, we will offer all courses in Canvas in Summer 2026.

 2. For all other faculty teaching in Spring 2026, you will see your empty Spring course shells (and eventually, students) in Canvas soon, if you do not already. These are not your migrated courses, and no students will see your course shells in Canvas unless you publish them. I ask that you please do not publish any course unless you are a part of the Canvas early adopter program. These empty shells are another great opportunity for you to import and/or create content. You can also use this time to attend or review a training workshop to learn more about Canvas tools and functionality.

 3. Finally, I would like to introduce our Canvas Faculty Champions! These dedicated faculty are available to offer your valuable peer-to-peer guidance and support as you learn more about Canvas and prepare for your own course migrations. I encourage you to reach out to your college champion if you have questions or would like to discuss anything related to the new LMS or our implementation. Special thanks to the colleagues below.
