The goal of True Blue Fusion is not to change what faculty do but to improve how they interact with the university to do it. 

What Will Change for Faculty? 

With True Blue Fusion, faculty will use Oracle Cloud in place of Banner for HR and financial activities. These updates are designed to streamline processes, reduce redundancy, and improve visibility into the information that faculty already manage today. 

Key areas in Oracle Cloud that will impact faculty include: 

• Travel: Faculty will submit travel expenses and receipts and track reimbursement status directly in Oracle Cloud. 

• Grants: Faculty will track grant funding, manage project expenses, and support sponsored program activities in one system. 

• Self-Service Tasks: Faculty will update personal information, view pay slips and W‑2s, and submit absences through Oracle self‑service. 

• Procurement: Faculty will use a streamlined process for creating requisitions, participating in sourcing events, and capturing receipts within a single platform. 

• Contracts: Faculty will eventually engage in contract renewal processes, with tools currently in prototype testing. 

These activities already exist today—True Blue Fusion brings them together into one integrated system with improved workflows and visibility. 

What Is Not Changing? 

True Blue Fusion does not c�󲹲Բ���:&�Բ�����;

• Teaching responsibilities 

• Course delivery or instructional tools 

• Student records or learning management systems 

Faculty will continue to use Banner and Canvas for teaching and student focused work. 

When Will Faculty Be Trained? 

Faculty training will begin closer to go live, in late 2026, and will continue after go live in January 2027. Training is not a one-time event. Faculty will have access to multiple learning options, including: 

• Live instructor-led sessions 

• Canvas based, self-paced, training modules 

• Step-by-step guides (printable and embedded in the system) 

• In system help and reminders 

Support will be available; no one is expected to remember everything at once. 

How the University Is Preparing 

The True Blue Fusion team is actively partnering with Academic Affairs to ensure faculty perspectives are considered as new processes are designed. Feedback from campus forums and engagement sessions continues to shape training, communication, and support plans. 

You’ll see ongoing outreach through: 

• Campus forums and targeted sessions 

• Faculty specific digital signage 

• Updates on the True Blue Fusion website 

As go live in January 2027 approaches, communication and training opportunities will increase.

• True Blue Fusion changes how faculty complete certain tasks—not what they’re responsible for 

• Training will be timely, flexible, and ongoing 

• Support will be available before, during, and after go live

Charting the Road Ahead

Provost Mark Byrnes, Interim Vice President for Business and Finance Drew Harpool, and Chief Information Officer Yvette Clark outlined the significance of the upcoming transition and the key role campus engagement will play throughout 2026. Representatives from MTSU’s implementation partners, Huron and Oracle, also provided an overview of the project structure, the phased timeline, and the new tools and capabilities coming with Oracle Cloud.

The kickoff highlighted how True Blue Fusion will streamline processes, strengthen data integrity, and support students, faculty, and staff with a more modern, connected technology environment. Attendees also enjoyed a live demonstration of the new system’s dashboard and reviewed insights gathered from recent stakeholder sessions.

The BPN kickoff event on Tuesday, October 7^th, 2025, brought together senior leadership, project architects, and newly appointed BPN members for an introduction to the project’s scope, purpose, and people. All six of MTSU’s Vice Presidents attended the meeting, underscoring the university’s unified commitment to the transformation. &�Բ�����;

As CIO Yvette Clark emphasized at the kickoff, “This project is about more than systems; it’s about the people who use them every day.” The True Blue Fusion team, alongside the Blue Partner Network, is committed to helping every employee feel informed, prepared, and supported as MTSU transitions to this new era of innovation and efficiency. &�Բ�����;

True Blue Fusion may be new, but by January 2027, it will be a part of our everyday life at MTSU. Here’s what you need to know: &�Բ�����;

1. It’s a university-wide transformation. True Blue Fusion will modernize how MTSU manages HR, finance, budgeting, procurement, and business intelligence through a single, integrated Oracle Cloud platform. &�Բ�����;

2. It replaces outdated systems. True Blue Fusion will replace systems such as Banner Human Resources, Banner Finance, Chrome River, MT$ource, and PageUp, bringing everything together into one streamlined platform. &�Բ�����;

3. It’s supported by every division. All six university vice presidents serve as executive sponsors of the project, ensuring transparency, and collaboration from top to bottom. &�Բ�����;

It focuses on people and process, not just technology. With the help of our implementation partner, Huron Consulting Group, the project emphasizes preparing users to successfully adapt to and learn the new system. It also introduces the Blue Partner Network, a group of more than 35 respected campus representatives who serve as communication bridges between their areas and the project team, sharing updates, gathering feedback, and helping colleagues prepare for change. &�Բ�����;
