Examples of research include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list is-style-compact-list\">\n<li>Surveys<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Interviews<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Observational Research<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Analysis of Archival Data<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Internet Research<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Social and Behavioral Research<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ethnographic Research<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Educational Research<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Innovative Instructional Methods, Procedures, or Treatments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Clinical Investigations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Does my research involve human subjects?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>If you engage in any intervention or interaction with a person as part of your research, then human subjects are involved. Interaction or intervention involves direct contact with individuals or manipulation of an individual\u2019s environment. Examples of intervention and interaction include performing physical exams, obtaining blood samples, performing X-rays, altering light and temperature, using student course materials, or archival data obtained from humans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please note that activities that do not involve human subjects or interventions that do not lead to generalizable knowledge (such as case studies or oral history projects) are not designated as research according to OHRP although they contribute to general knowledge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Am I engaged in research under MTSU Policy and Federal Regulations?
