{"id":285,"date":"2024-07-17T19:41:16","date_gmt":"2024-07-17T19:41:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mtsu.edu\/policies\/?page_id=285"},"modified":"2026-04-23T02:17:10","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T02:17:10","slug":"p815","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.mtsu.edu\/policies\/p815\/","title":{"rendered":"815 \u00a0Unemployment Compensation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Approved by President<\/strong><strong><br>Effective Date:&nbsp;June 5, 2017<br>Responsible Division: Business and Finance<br>Responsible Office: &nbsp;Human Resource Services<br>Responsible Officer: &nbsp;Assistant Vice President, Human Resource Services<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>I. &nbsp;Purpose<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This policy establishes the criteria and process regarding unemployment compensation for employees at Â鶹ÊÓƵ (MTSU or University).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>II. &nbsp;Unemployment Compensation Contributions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MTSU will adhere to the following regarding unemployment contributions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" style=\"list-style-type:upper-alpha\">\n<li>MTSU shall continue and maintain its election to make payments for unemployment compensation benefits, on a reimbursement basis, in lieu of contributions pursuant to T.C.A. \u00a7 50-7-405.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>MTSU shall be responsible for its liabilities arising under the law.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reimbursement payments for unemployment compensation benefits shall be paid to the Department of Employment Security within thirty (30) days of receipt of a valid bill for such benefits.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>MTSU shall be responsible for the prompt appeal of claims by persons who are ineligible or disqualified for benefits and of incorrect and improper assessments.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Forms:&nbsp; none.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Revisions: none.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last Reviewed: May 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>References: T.C.A. \u00a7 50-7-405.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Approved by PresidentEffective Date:&nbsp;June 5, 2017Responsible Division: Business and FinanceResponsible Office: &nbsp;Human Resource ServicesResponsible Officer: &nbsp;Assistant Vice President, Human Resource Services I. &nbsp;Purpose This policy establishes the criteria and process regarding unemployment compensation for employees at Â鶹ÊÓƵ (MTSU or University).
