Jones\u00a0College of Business and the College of Mass Communication\u00a0began in early fall with the announced retirements of\u00a0Dean Jim Burton and Dean Roy Moore.<\/p>\n<p>The searches, now in full swing, are remarkable in two\u00a0ways. First, in order to cast the broadest net possible to\u00a0find a dynamic, visionary, and collaborative dean for each\u00a0college, industry and community leaders are chairing the\u00a0searches. Paul W. Martin Jr., chief managing member of\u00a0Clarity Resources, is chairing the search for a new dean in\u00a0business; Peter Fisher , vice president and general manager\u00a0of the Grand Ole Opry, is chairing the mass communication\u00a0search.<\/p>\n<p>Second, the University has hired a private executive search\u00a0firm, funded by private dollars. Parker Executive Search is\u00a0actively soliciting nominations from academic and industry\u00a0circles. The positions are being advertised nationally and\u00a0internationally. When candidates are selected, the search\u00a0committees, comprised of faculty, students, staff, and community\u00a0representatives, will begin reviewing them.
