Physics, Quantum Science and Computing Concentration, B.S.

A quantum physics degree covers topics including the use of quantum mechanics to understand how light and matter interact, manipulating quantum properties to design new superconductors, and applying quantum principles for creating and programming quantum computers.

Job opportunities in quantum science are growing. The field of quantum information science and engineering (QISE) may revolutionize information technology, computing, and national security. MTSU is making significant investments in research and education because there is a notable talent shortage in the U.S. Job openings in the field currently outnumber qualified candidates, with employment opportunities available across academia, industry, national laboratories, and government.

You can join the quantum revolution by choosing this concentration while you complete your B.S. in Physics. Courses include quantum mechanics, scientific computing, quantum computing basics and quantum computing applications. Quantum physics degree courses will provide a background to help you become competitive in the quantum science job market, or to allow you to make an immediate impact when entering graduate school for a master’s or Ph.D.
