A professional degreeand concentrationfocused on the artistic and technical skillsrequired to create the visual and structural world of theatrical productions. Hands on trainingisemphasized in the behind-the scenes disciplines that bring performances to life. Students study areas such as scenic, lighting, costume and sound design, props, stage management, and technical direction, gaining both creative and technical competencies. Coursework is combined with extensive production assignments, allowing students to apply their skills in real theatre environments. A portfolio review and interview arerequiredڴǰadmissionand progression isdeterminedby continued portfolio reviews. Graduates are prepared for careers in theatre, live entertainment, film, events, and related design and production fields.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. —鶹Ƶ’s campus has been bustling with creative activity this summer as almost 300 rising 11th and 12th graders from across the state showcased their artistic skills at this year’s recently concluded TennesseeGovernor’s School for the Arts.

Auditions arerequiredforAdmission to the B.F.A. degree Program.

Admission to the B.F.A in Theatre with a concentration in Design/Techincludes an interviewin person or virtually. Interviews will include the following:

A resume and digital portfolioshowcasingyour work in your area of expertise (lighting, sound, scenic and costume design)

Please prepareportfolioand resume demonstrating your work in Theatre (Entertainment) Design and Technology. Applicants are encouraged to showrealizedwork and course work as needed. The portfolio shoulddemonstrateprocessas well as the completed project. You will have 5 minutes to present your portfolio to the panel of reviewers. Be prepared to answer questions related to the work displayed as well as your experience.

Auditions for 2027-2028 and beyond will be in February/Marcheach Academic Year
