{"id":217,"date":"2024-05-08T16:26:52","date_gmt":"2024-05-08T16:26:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mtsu.edu\/tuition\/?page_id=217"},"modified":"2026-06-24T01:43:05","modified_gmt":"2026-06-24T01:43:05","slug":"payment-plan","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.mtsu.edu\/tuition\/payment-plan\/","title":{"rendered":"Installment Payment Plan"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Although all charges are due and payable in full at the beginning of each term, students in good financial standing at MTSU may defer payment of up to 75% of their amount due for registration fees, housing, and the freshmen meal plan for the fall and spring semesters.&nbsp;<strong><em>The Installment Payment Plan is not available for summer terms or the Winter Session.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Eligibility<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The total balance you owe must be at least $400 after all discounts, financial aid, and other credits have been applied to your account.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pay 25% of the registration fees, dorm rent, and meal plan costs by the fee payment deadline.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prior term charges and non-deferrable charges must be paid in addition to the 25% payment.<br><br><strong>NOTE:&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;Students under the age of 18 will not be able to sign up on the installment plan in PipelineMT as they cannot enter into a financial agreement as a minor.&nbsp; However, an authorized user over 18 may sign up and pay on the installment plan. Please refer to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mtsu.edu\/tuition\/instructions\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.mtsu.edu\/tuition\/instructions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Payment\/Confirmation<\/a> instructions on how to create an Authorized User account.&nbsp; Email&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:bursarmt@mtsu.edu\">bursarmt@mtsu.edu<\/a>&nbsp;to request the hold to be lifted once your Authorized User is ready to pay.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>A student who has failed to make timely payments in a previous term may be denied the right to participate in the Installment Payment Plan in future enrollment periods. A student who is denied participation may be allowed to participate again only after completion of payment in full for 2 consecutive terms which allow the Installment Payment Plan (fall and spring). Any student who makes payment with a check that is subsequently returned will be denied participation in the Installment Payment Plan in all future terms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To avoid late fees and ineligibility for the Installment Payment Plan in future terms, the student should continue to make payment by each due date. Contact the&nbsp;<strong>MT One Stop<\/strong>&nbsp;for the new payment amounts after drop or withdrawal. Remember, if you withdraw after the semester has begun, you are still responsible to pay the balance of tuition and fees, dorm and meals.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Terms<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>After making the initial 25% payment by the fee payment deadline, the remaining 75% will be payable in three monthly installments. For the fall term, installment payments are due on September 30, October 31 and November 30. For the spring term, installment payments are due on February 28, March 31 and April 30. Please note that the university is not obligated to send reminder notices before the payment is due.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants in this plan must apply all discounts, waivers, third party sponsor payments (such as employer and pre-paid tuition programs) and financial aid, including student loans, toward payment of registration fees before a payment plan will be considered. Financial Aid and other credits received after the initial payment will be applied to the remaining balance, and future amounts due will be recomputed. No refunds can be made until all fees are paid in full.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students will not be withdrawn from classes for failure to pay the remaining installments. However, the university may withhold grades and transcripts until current payments are made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Service Charges and Fines<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Each participant will be charged a $50.00 service fee each term to defray administrative costs. This fee is payable along with the 25% down payment on or before the registration fee payment deadline.&nbsp;&nbsp;An additional late payment charge of $25 will be assessed on each installment not paid on or before the due date and each 30 day period past the 2nd installment up to a maximum of $100.00. Students who make payments with checks that are returned will be charged a $30.00 return check service fee as well as any applicable late fees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If a payment is not received in the Business Office by the scheduled payment due date, the university may withhold all services from the students, including grades, transcripts, and future registration until the fees have been paid in full including any assessed late fees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All existing rules and policies pertaining to returned checks, refunds, withdrawals, dropped classes, and collection costs are applicable to the Installment Payment Plan.<br><br>Upon receipt of a registration bill, students who desire to participate in the Installment Payment Plan should sign up for the plan through PipelineMT. Students may pay the full amount due or the down payment by credit card or check card online. Payment may also be made by mail, or in person at the Business Office cashier windows.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Added Classes After Fee Payment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Additional fees for classes added after fee payment are due before the late registration fee payment deadline, or on the same day the class is added if it\u2019s after late registration.&nbsp;<strong>Any unpaid fees after this date will be processed as an Installment Payment Plan.<\/strong>&nbsp;The $50 Installment Payment Plan service fee and any applicable $25 late payment fees will be charged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Example<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This example is based upon a 15 credit hour, in-state freshman student living in a shared dorm room with a freshman meal plan. The minimum amount due is payable by the semester&#8217;s fee payment deadline. The fees listed below are for the Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 semesters.
