You may also email&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:withdraw@mtsu.edu?subject=Question%20about%20Withdrawing\">withdraw@mtsu.edu<\/a>&nbsp;to inquire about the possibility of an extenuating circumstance withdrawal.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the event of a student death (prospective, current, former or alumni), please reach out to <a href=\"mailto:withdraw@mtsu.edu\">withdraw@mtsu.edu<\/a>. We will make appropriate notifications to all campus officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Backdated Withdrawals<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Students can submit dated documentation (with specific dates of appointments, visits, etc.) of an extenuating circumstance at any point prior to the last day of finals in a semester to request a backdated withdrawal. This means, based on the dates provided, we may be able to back up a drop\/withdrawal to an earlier date and\/or fee adjustment period within the semester. Any documentation must be submitted to MT One Stop and the student must request the backdated action.&nbsp;<strong>Only the student can initiate a withdrawal<\/strong>. Review acceptable documentation information listed below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Retroactive Withdrawals<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Retroactive withdrawal refers to withdrawals requested\u00a0<em>after\u00a0<\/em>the semester has ended. Any student wishing to withdraw from individual or all classes after the last day of finals must initiate a retroactive withdrawal. The student will need to provide dated documentation of the extenuating circumstance dated prior to the semester\u2019s deadline to withdraw from classes with a grade of W. Once the documentation is received and deemed acceptable, our office will request permission from each instructor to allow the change of grade to a W.\u00a0It is inevitably at the discretion of the instructor to allow the change or to leave the grade as earned. We will never retroactively withdraw any earned grade above an F\/FA.\u00a0Fee adjustments are not provided during the retroactive withdrawal process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Please note the following:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list is-style-compact-list\">\n<li>Retroactive withdrawals may be requested up to one (1) calendar year from the end of the term in question.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In accordance with our&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/catalog.mtsu.edu\/content.php?catoid=36&amp;navoid=8449\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Academic Standards<\/a>, academic standing will not be recalculated in the event of a retroactive withdrawal once a new semester has started.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sufficient documentation must be provided and meet the following guidelines:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Dates must be within the term in question or within 14 calendar days prior to the beginning of the term.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Documentation must include dates of appointments, visits, etc. that impacted the student\u2019s ability to complete the term.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Documentation<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>must be official and include any dates of appointments, visits, treatments, etc. and must date the incident leading to the withdrawal.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>No screenshots.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No Word or other editable documents.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provider letters must be signed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Any emails used as support must come straight from the provider&#8217;s official email to&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:withdraw@mtsu.edu\">withdraw@mtsu.edu.&nbsp;<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is up to you, the student, to provide adequate documentation to support your request based on the situation that has impacted you specifically. Some examples of common documentation include, but are not limited to:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Doctor\u2019s statements with specific dates (diagnosis\/treatment not needed), signed, from provider<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Counselor\/therapist letters with specific dates (diagnosis\/treatment not needed), signed, from provider<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hospital admission\/discharge paperwork<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Death certificate\/obituaries if immediate family member (student must be listed in order to establish relation)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Police reports<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Travel itineraries<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Documentation of family emergency<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Other documents to support your specific request.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Documentation can be uploaded securely to our&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/itdwebapps.mtsu.edu\/DFPassThrough\/DFCasAuth?TargetResource=https:\/\/dynamicforms.ngwebsolutions.com\/Submit\/Form\/Start\/3b125c6e-6c33-4e46-95e6-8603d593082a\">Drop Box<\/a>, emailed to&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:withdraw@mtsu.edu\">withdraw@mtsu.edu<\/a>&nbsp;(if no personally identifiable information like social security numbers), or brought in person to the MT One Stop- SSAC 210.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Withdrawal Appeals<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Students who are denied fee adjustments, a backdated or a retroactive withdrawal have the option to appeal that decision. The MT One Stop will provide students who are denied a Withdrawal Appeal Form and provide further instructions at that point. You must first initiate a withdrawal request by emailing&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:withdraw@mtsu.edu\">withdraw@mtsu.edu<\/a>&nbsp;and be denied in order to appeal.
