How to Register for Classes
To begin, click on Register for Classes in PipelineMT. If you are an employee or faculty/staff member, you may be prompted to select if you are a Student before you are taken to the registration screens.

You will be taken to the Registration menu, where you’ll again click on Register for Classes.

Select the term you want to register for, and if you are cleared to register for that term you’ll be taken to the main registration screen. Here you will see three boxes. The top box lets you search for classes (see Look Up Classes section for how to navigate this). The bottom left box shows your current schedule, which will update as you register. The bottom right box is the actual registration tool called your Registration Summary. It is critical to understand that this box is where you will submit your changes to add or drop classes once you enter a particular CRN!

You can either search for classes to add to your summary or enter the CRNs directly on the second tab if you already have them written down. If adding them from the search, you can simply click the “Add” button, which will be active if that course is eligible to register for at that time.

Once the course or courses are in the Registration Summary, you must hit “Submit” to process the request. At this point you’ll see if there are errors or problems with the courses you want to add. Think of the Registration Summary as a shopping cart on a website – you put your classes in the cart, but you don’t actually buy them until you go to your cart. So putting the class in the cart does not hold your spot, you must hit Submit to process the transaction.

If successful, the status will say “Registered” next to the class.

Any registration errors will show at the top of the page or by hovering over the error message in the summary box. Some errors may require finding a new class or getting permission from a department. Others, such as time conflicts, may require dropping another class in order to add the new class.

You will also use the Registration Summary to drop classes, if needed. Again, once you change the action to what you want to do, hit Submit to actually process the transaction. If you are unable to drop a class for any reason it will show an error. Once dropped, the status will reflect to “Dropped” instead of “Registered”.
