How to Join a Waitlist

Waitlists are a way to get in line for a closed class without having to constantly check for openings in a class you need. For more information on waitlits, visit the Waitlist website. You may not be on a waitlist for a class you are already enrolled in, and you cannot be on multiple waitlists for the same class. You can be on multiple waitlists if they are all for different classes.

In order to join a waitlist, you must first attempt to register for the closed class (See How To Register for Classes if needed).

waitlist closed class error

If waitlists are active on the class and it is closed, you can change the “Action” in your Registration Summary to “Waitlist” and hit Submit.

waitlist action

Classes that are Waitlisted will show in the Registration Status column, but you are not officially in those classes yet.

Registration status

If you receive a notification via email that a spot has opened for you in a class, you have 12 hours to actually register for that class. You are not automatically enrolled when a seat opens. Go back to your Registration Summary and change the action from Waitlist to “Web Registered.” Hit submit. If you need to drop another class to make room for the waitlist class, do that at the same time.

Web registered

Once you hit Submit if there are no errors, the Registation Status will change to “Registered“.

successful registration

You can see if a class has waitlist in the Look Up Classes area as it will show the number of waitlist seats available. If there is no waitlist information on the course, the waitlist is inactive for that particular class.

identifying waitlists

The waitlist email will come from [email protected] and look similar to the one below. It will show you the deadline to add the class to your schedule before the next person in line is notified. If you miss this deadline, you cannot be placed back at the front of the line. You must rejoin the waitlist and start again.
